Summer Sewing

Have you always wanted to learn how to sew? Now is your chance. The Gray Hill School Farm in West Point/ LaGrange, Georgia has organized and is promoting FREE sewing classes with our areas best seamstress – Ms. Nora Ayers!

Beginning Monday June 17th, 2024 at Long Cane United Methodist Church Hall. (More details are below). Classes will continue every Monday after that.

In cooperation with The Long Cane United Methodist Church and the Grayhill Gabbettville Garden Group, We are offering these sewing classes for free. Gray Hill School Farm is helping you learn basic skills.

Details for Sewing Classes

Taught by Ms. Nora Ayers, these classes are for any adult or for any capable and interested child accompanied by an adult. No prior knowledge is required. This class will start with the basics and is project based. The first lesson will familiarize you with the machine and the project will be an apron.

First class is Monday June 17th. Classes will proceed every Monday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Long Cane United Methodist Church Hall. The address is: 51 Long Cane Road, LaGrange , GA, 30240

Young learners will sit side-by-side with their accompanying adult and both can learn at the same time. This is a relaxed atmosphere, in a venue that has plenty of room. It is sure to be quite interesting and a great skill to have.

Materials for the Class

It is best if you learn on the same sewing machine you will be using at home. Most sewing machines are portable. We do have a limited number of basic sewing machines if you do not have your own. Let us know so we can have one available for you (see contact below). The first class is an apron project, and requires one yard of fabric. Please bring the cloth (1 yd.) with which you would like to make your apron to the first class. If you do not have your own fabric, we have some donated cloth you may use.
