Beautiful Progress!
The progress on the dresses was quite inspiring. Not only were they beautiful, but they also fit. One adult dress was worn to class, and another tried on with many compliments on how well it fit. There were several tips from the experienced sewers on how to customize tailoring for a perfect fit.
Several youth dresses were shown and admired. The reward gained when a child wears and loves something you made is priceless. It also promotes the need to make another one – LOL!
Many small “Cut and Sew” kit projects were donated by one of the assistants. These consist of cloth printed with the pattern and directions right on the fabric. They make a great medium-sized sewing project which helps you practice several sewing skills as well as get a fun end-result!
Week Four
The Fourth sewing class, was a continuation of the dress work with some instruction on threading, troubleshooting, and fixing a serger. Also, Ms. Nora gave instruction on how to handle a stretch fabric specifically hemming one of the youth dresses. A new machine was brought to class and all the attachments were explained.
Week Five
Everyone was so busy that we didn’t even know it had rained during class! A young (pre-teen) student brought a fabric book project, which they began and finished in one class! It was colorful and looked amazing.
Ms. Nora helped everyone and had several patterns of tote bag styles available. She also brought a box of fabric that was up for grabs.
One person had an apron pattern that needed some changes. Ms. Nora has a special gift in knowing how to make pattern adjustments and helped her figure that out.

Sewing continues
This sewing class will continue weekly each Monday from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at Long Cane Methodist Church (51 Long Cane Rd., LaGrange , GA) throughout the month of July and possibly further if interest remains high.
